Brodinski Exclusive Interview
In the few short weeks we’ve been doing interviews for our blog I’m quite amazed about who’s been up for it and last week whilst trying to bag myself an upfront copy of his new single I thought I’d try it on with yet another Frenchman (no, not like that) and low and behold, here’s an interview with one of our favourite DJ / producers – the man like Brodinski.
Disco Of Doom: You’re new single ‘Manifesto EP’ drops this week on Cajual… what’s the story here?
Brodinski: The label contacted me in October and it was an honour for me when I heard Green Velvet wanted me to do an EP on his label! I love his stuff and I’m a BIG BIG fan of the label too, so I immediately said yes in within the hour I had started to work on it with Yuksek in studio.
DoD: It must be cool to have released a track on a legendary label you have been a big fan of since your early days – Do you think a younger Brodinski say five years ago would have imagined this happening?
Brodinski: Impossible… I still can’t even realise this today! I’m glad labels like R&S and Cajual are coming back from the past and are getting interested about artist like us. I’m more than happy today!
DoD: You’ve become one of the biggest DJs within your genre, do you feel like you’ve achieved all your dreams, if not - what would you plan to achieve in next five years?
Brodisnki: Five years ago I was dreaming about playing in Bugged Out, being DJ as my job, Doing a ‘Suck MY Deck’ CD, playing along with people I’d always loved and now it’s happening. I can’t expect more, the ‘more’ will just be bonus… my life is already like I want it!
QuentinisCue (one of our Twitter friends): Do you realize the influence you have, for example being able to boost artist careers – what are your thoughts on this?
Brodinski: I’ve always wanted to push artists to find more fans. I’m a big big fan of every kind of music, I’m also a ‘digger’, I love to search, to listen and to help most of the artist I love. I’m glad some people are thankful for it! I consider that as my full time job. I’m a DJ before a producer, and DJ’s help people to create more and more music, and that’s what’s need to stay interesting.
DoD: You do a midweek show at Social Club with Mehdi called ‘Let Me Ride’ playing hip hop and R&B bangers – what are your favourite 3 all time bangers? (Youtube links please)
Brodinski: My 3 All Time Crunk Bangers Are :
1. Swizz Beatz – It’s Me Bitches
2. David Banner – Play
3. The Diplomats – I’m Ready
DoD: And three all-time favourite electronic bangers?
Brodinski:
1. CJ Bolland – Camargue
2. Joris Voorn – Incident
3. Cajmere – Brighter Days
DoD: What’s happening in the studio right now and why have we not had a full-blown artist album yet?
Brodinski: I did try to do an album over the last couple of month but it’s not what I want to do now. I’m preparing a series of EP’s with collaboration in it… and some remixes too. I’m glad to be in the studio right now.
DoD: What new producers are exciting you right now?
Brodinski: Djedjotronic is still one of my favourites, really recently I really dig Gesaffelstein, Julio Bashmore, NT89, Steve Starks, JTRP, Krystal Klear & Lex Luger.
Many thanks dude and cheers for sending of single too!
