Desert Island Disco With TWR72
Dutch duo TWR72 AKA The Walk and Rogerseventytwo (…to their mums) burst onto our radar earlier this summer with the aptly titled track ‘Summer‘ ‘Acid Version‘ and we’ve been watching them grow ever since. Following up with a great EP on Bad Life and more recently their ‘Paradox EP‘ on Sound Pellegrino, these guys have been delivering some absolute bangers. Following the last DID with Mike Mago, our recent gig at Dum Dum and our forthcoming showcase at ADE alongside TWR72 we thought it only right to get them on the blog for a Desert Island Disco:
Ryuichi Sakamoto – Bibo No Aozora
I’m starting with Ryuichi Sakamoto because this is the first song I placed on my iPod and I simply need it on this desert island. The atmosphere is immense of the track. When I hear the first tones I get tears in my eyes.
Deuce (Marcel Dettmann & Shed) – Twerp Wiz
I need contrast in my top 5 selection. I need small, but also big tracks. This is a track I always wanna play in our dj sets, but I don’t dare it cause I think it’s too intense for them. But… this is 1 of 2 tracks I always play on my iPod. I grew up with the harder side of techno. It got the best flow I’ve ever heard and, like I said, it’s intense!
Max Richter – On the Nature of Daylight
This track works the same as Ryuichi Sakamoto but it builds more. Again an instrumental with a highly emotional atmosphere. It makes me love everything around me again.
Mark Broom & James Ruskin – Hostage
Back to the power tracks. The same with Deuce. These are the only 2 techno tracks I don’t play in my sets but on my iPod ( on repeat). The melody is a winner. It’s simple, but with the perfect sound. The beats are the same: simple, but with perfect sounds. Which makes the perfect track.
Sebastien Tellier – La Ritournelle
To close my selection I would love to include this track of Sebastien Tellier. I really felt in love the minute I heard it for the first time and I never get enough of it. It feels like a never ending track which goes on and on. With the brilliant melody and perfect drums this is essential in a top 5.
Many thanks guys! You can check out the ‘Paradox EP’ here:
